Hola from Costa Rica! :)

I'm sitting in an Internet Cafe looking at the sunset out the window while typing this. We went on a fabulous hike today, through and along a river, then on a dirt road through jungle and a bamboo forest. Earlier today I went on a hike where we saw monkeys and two of them had babies with them. The babies rode on their backs and then would climb around on their own when they stopped. Some of them were hanging upside down and eating. Cool to see them jumping from tree to tree.

I'll try to catch up on these posts as I can.

They're closing now so I've gotta' go.

Adios and Aloha!

So far, 2/14/07

Sleep:
woke at 4:30am for temp. & pee
up at 6am to run
slept a little off and on between 7:30 & 8:30 or so too
to sleep for night at ??

Food:
1 watermelon for breakfast
15 bananas for lunch
Dinner: small avocado, small head of cabbage, large tomato, some baby carrots

I ate dinner rushed 'cause I wanted to finish it before we left, rather than eating it at the Internet Cafe. I think it will still digest well enough though - hopefully. Heh, we'll find out!

Exercise:
1 hour run/walk in morning breakfast & before it gets too hot :) ~30min. give or take running in that
calestenics before lunch: 10 jump squats, followed by 150 squats, slight rest followed by 3 or 4 sucky jump lunges, followed by 10 jump squats, slight rest followed by about 5 or 6 more sucky jump lunges LOL
Did 10 pushups after dinner, just before leaving for town

Detox:
a bit of mucus when I lay down - makes me cough a bit, but it's getting less and less
I'm feeling more of myself, feel more like exercising, my hunger is coming back more too. Yay!

Female:
6am temp: ?? degrees fahrenheit, day ?? of my cycle, green day, no kid icons

The Rest:
Another freestyle day. Finished reading a book, went looking at shops and came into Internet Cafe to update this Blog. :) I had a chat date w/my hubby tonight. My friends went to a Valentine's Day performance and were gonna' picnic on the beach. It sounded like fun, but I had planned to talk to my hubby for a long time and he would only be available during it. It was soooo good to reconnect with him - wish he was here & I could hug him too...

So far, 2/13/07

Sleep:
woke at 6am for temp.
up at 7-ish?
to sleep for night at 11:30-ish

Food:
1 cup pipas (coco water) after run/walk
1 small watermelon after my roommate came back from run/walk
bananas for lunch - shared again...
2 cantelopes later
dinner: large lilikoi from market yesterday, bite of HOT cabbage from market yesterday, 1 cucumber & part of another, a few pineapple slices my friends didn't want

Exercise:
sort-of run/walk thingy in the morning
4 or 5 pushups or so later in the day - still tired from travel, etc.
Hard to run with dusty roads for me - when cars go by dust comes up & I want to cover my face in order to keep the mucus reaction down - can't breathe well through hankercheif or something else when exercising.... I also haven't been fueling myself as much lately, so felt that too
I figure I'll try the beach tomorrow - wear my Tevas 'cause it's got sand in places, large pebbles/small rocks in others and large rough rocks in yet others...

Detox:
mucus, dehydration & tireness still...

Female:
6am temp: ?? degrees fahrenheit, day ?? of my cycle, green day, no kid icons

The Rest:
It was a nice stay at home sort of day today, didn't completely stay there at the hotel, but didn't 'need' to be anywhere either. Nice.

I finally got to chat w/my hubby - had missed him yesterday online from the Internet Cafe. It was really nice to reconnect. I'm hoping to chat again tomorrow for Valentine's. :)

So far, 2/12/07

Sleep:
woke at 6am for temp.
up at ??
to sleep for night at ??

Food:
1/2 watermelon for breakfast, not sure of time
bananas for lunch, not sure how many - shared w/friends
2 cantelopes later for dinner-ish
4 peeled broccolli stems from stuff packed for airplane for later snack

We went to a neighbor town to get food 'cause we heard there was a farmer's market of sorts there. We missed the market 'cause it ended at 11am, but it was still good to get groceries there 'cause the market there stocks up during the farmer's market. LOL They probably needed to stock up again after we left... I haven't been as hungry so I got the least amount of food. I got:
3 small watermelons
6 cantelopes
4 large cucumbers
1 large lilikoi (passion fruit)
1 small cabbage
Which cost 6,143 colones, which is abot $12 - not bad, eh?

Exercise:
Carried luggage and food between hotels in town, and groceries from taxi up stairs into new hotel room
Not much else, too tired and such

Detox:
mucus and dehydration, tiredness - from traveling

Female:
6am temp: ?? degrees fahrenheit, day ?? of my cycle, green day, no kid icons

The Rest:
My friends didn't sleep well because the place next door had music playing most of the night. They found another place down the street that was a bit away from town & cost a little less. Same deal w/toilet and shower. They did give us a towel to use though, and the other place didn't. So we walked our stuff down the street to the new place. It took the 5 of us 2 trips. LOL We had a couple of bags of pipas (coconuts - little ones today), a couple of crates of bananas and other food, before shopping. It was left-overs from the fast, so all of it was quite ripe already.

We took the bus to the neighbor town to get our food, and a taxi back. It worked quite well.

It is quite hot & humid here. Even the locals are hanging out in the shade most of the time during the day. It does get cooler at night though. Our first night it didn't seem to get cooler at night at all, but I guess that's 'cause it was in town & there were other things blocking the night breezes.

My friends are happy with their new hotel, so that's good. I'm fine with either. It is nice to have us all in the same hotel though (one of our group went here the first night after we had checked into the first place).

I found some really nifty shells - they look like the ones we have in Hawaii, but different, so it's cool.

So far, 2/11/07

Times will be CR time now
Sleep:
woke at 5:30am & took temp
up at 6am to have breakfast & get ready for drive
to sleep for night at 12:30am-ish I think

Food:
6am: cantelope and watermelon slices at hotel
~1pm: bananas while waiting for the ferry - not sure how many 'cause shared 'em with friends
~7pm: 1 small watermelon at new hotel, and a few sticks of celery
My hunger hasn't returned completely - still thrown off from things

Exercise:
Very short run uphill, carrying luggage and food into hotel, up stairs
Not a whole lot else today

Detox:
mucus & dehydration mainly

Female:
6am temp: ?? degrees fahrenheit, day ?? of my cycle, green day, no kid icons
Still menstrating, but didn't need the cup anymore

The Rest:
So today we traveled by van to a ferry, took that and then drove more in the van again to where we were staying
We didn't have a hotel yet, so had to figure that out.
Interesting place. Nifty toilet had flush handle upside down so you lift it instead of pushing it down.
No toilet paper in the toilets seems to be a regular thing here, the pipes are small apparently - and probably the water flow isn't strong enough too.
No hot water, but it's not cold either. I like it - wish the water was that temp. at home out of the tap, would chuck the hot water heater if it was...
The hotel by the airport had hot water though, just not the other places here we've seen - so far at least.
It was fun to eat with a bunch of people all eating the way I do. It's been a while.

2/10/07

Sleep:
skipped the temperature today 'cause of the travel
to sleep for night at 10pm-ish CR time

Food:
6:15pm: 1 cantelope Lenny and Kevin gave me before dinner 'cause I was hun-gry (& thirsty)
6:30pm: dinner with fasting group that just ended:
cantelope slices
pineapple & papaya slices (I didn't have much papaya)
salad (lettuce, tomato, cabbage, cucumber & lemon - it had some avocado chunks I took out)

Exercise:
about the same as yesterday.. lugging luggage mainly, also did some pushups when I woke up in hotel after a while, before shower and dinner

Detox:
quite thirsty - dehydrated from flight, don't remember anything else, still have a bit of the mucus stuff from before - or again from the flight...

Female:
6am temp: skipped 'cause of travel, day ?? of my cycle, green day, no kid icons
Took Diva Cup out when got to hotel - was quite some time in there, worked out fine - hardly anything in it anyway
I reset the time on my temperature thingy to be CR time

The Rest:
So I slept much of the day - off and on
Did a few other things, but mainly slept 'till my friends arrived at about 5pm-ish
Had fun catching up with them a bit and meeting new friends who roomed with me too. :)
Nice meeting up with more friends at dinner.
Went to sleep early - still catching up and all...

So far, 2/9/07

Sleep:
woke at 6am for temp.
up at 6am after temp.
to sleep for night at 4:45am-ish Hawaii time, 9:30am CR time

Food:
coco water on way in to airport
Tangerines I packed (5 I think) & 1 pound cherry tomatoes at my home airport
3 hands of lady finger bananas at Honolulu airport & a celery stick or few
all jicima packed except big one on planes
I took a picture of the food I packed for the plane, will post it when back home...

Exercise:
Not a whole lot... carrying my luggage around, some light stretching and a few jump squats, etc. inbetween flights

Detox:
Um... didn't write this down, don't remember, sorry

Female:
6am temp: ?? degrees fahrenheit, day ?? of my cycle, green day, no kid icons
menstrating, so used Diva Cup today, brought tampons in case for back-up, not need them though

The Rest:
Gathered my food, luggage and stuff and went off to the airport this morning.
We went to BigK to get socks for my running shoes 'cause I couldn't find any of mine (only my hubby & son's) LOL
We also went to Border's and got a Costa Rican Spanish-English traveler's dictionary
Then I went to the airport and waited for my flight.
Oh, had to go through agricultural inspection and such first. I learned that it didn't matter if my fruit was peeled or not, I couldn't take it past Hawaii. That meant I needed to eat all of it here and during my layover in Honolulu. It was actually no problem. I would have been better to have 'em in the peels though. I couldn't eat the 'cooking' bananas by the time I got to them - too mushy and such. The lady finger ones were still tasty and all though.
I was quite dehydrated from the flights though - still recovering from all the travel and such now (2/14).
Otherwise, the food worked out well.
Interesting how even though it was all the same airline, the in-flight magazines were all English until the last leg, then they were Spanish & the announcements were in both English and Spanish.
It was pretty cool to arrive at the airport and look around to see everything written in Spanish. Yep, I'm in a foreign country. Too bad I didn't know I was coming here earlier, so I could brush up on my Spanish better. Oh well, am getting around fine so far.
When you go to get your baggage, you go through the immigration and customs things on the way - all one after another, which was nice not to have to find all of them individually. It was very reminiscent of going on the cruise in November. The immigration line looked pretty much the same, but shorter, thank goodness. LOL That one for the cruise was several hours long.
Then I got a taxi to my hotel, which pays for the taxi and they know where it is and such, so it was quite the no-brainer arrival. Oh yeah, speaking of arrival.. I was walking around thinking about how cool it was that everything was in Spanish at the airport on the way to baggage claim, etc. and then, wait, there was a Burger King or McDonald's or something like that. LOL They are everywhere.
I slept off and on for lots of the day after getting in my room. Will continue this on the next day - 'cause it was... :D

So far, 2/4/07

Just adding in here from Costa Rica that I made it to the beach with my hubby today for a while, which was really nice. I took another video with my cell phone of the beach too. I figured out how to do a little better quality, so it looks better. I'll post it here when I'm back home.

I should get some videos of here too... will get the beach & try to get howler monkeys too.

K, bye for now!

So far, 2/2/07

Well, I didn't get a chance to update this post and several others before leaving for Costa Rica, so I'm just putting it up now as-is. Maybe I'll be able to fix it later - probably not though 'cause it will be almost 2 months later when I get back home...

Sleep:
woke at 6am for temp.
up at 7:30am
to sleep for night at ??

Food:
~8:25am: 18 oz. tangelo/orange juice
~12:30pm: 1/4 gallon young coconut water
~1:30pm: 80-ish rambutan - didn't count, but volume of compost was about that compared to the 60 I had yesterday...
~4:30pm: 3 tangerines

Exercise:

Detox:
salty mucus in back of throat coming from sinuses, sneezing & runny nose at times - partly from stuff I did lately with fat & salt, partly from winds stirring up dust & stuff that makes me sneeze

Female:
6am temp: ?? degrees Fahrenheit, day ?? of my cycle, green day, no kid icons

The Rest:
I felt better today, like I'm coming out of it, starting anew and all. Thanks Bod for taking care of my mess-ups and stuff so well.

So far, 2/1/07

Well, I didn't get a chance to update this post and several others before leaving for Costa Rica, so I'm just putting it up now as-is. Maybe I'll be able to fix it later - probably not though 'cause it will be almost 2 months later when I get back home...

Sleep:
woke at 6am for temp.
up several times in night for BMs, gas, etc.
up at noon
to sleep for night at ~9pm, but woke a few times in the night

Food:
~2:30pm: 1 Jamaican Lilikoi from yard
~7:30pm: 60 rambutan

Exercise:
~2pm: walk a few blocks to and same back client's office to pick up something & then a couple to relocate a centipede from our house into wilder area

Detox:
LOL yep - still from da' avocado and older salty stuff... I was semi-fasting, so that helped things too.

Slept in and did mini-fast 'cause of the gas and constipation last night and BMs early this morning. Interesting how it turned out to be right in the hours the hygienists say elimination happens: between 3:30am and noon. At a certain point I felt okay to get up and do stuff - looked at the clock and it was 12: 23pm. LOL The first time I got up for BM in the night was 3:50am...

Still wasn't hungry for most of the day, still felt 'full'/constipated-ish. So I didn't end up eating anything much 'till pretty late. Good thing I had decided to go overt-fat free for a while - not enough time to get activity and calories in to support any overt fats anyway. LOL I had plenty of 'em last night to last for a few days, yep.

Female:
6am temp: 97.55 degrees Fahrenheit, day 21 of my cycle, green day, no kid icons

The Rest:

Got my ticket to Costa Rica - it's official!! Yay!

Went to the beach & took short video from cell phone (doesn't view very well in Firefox, but works in IE, didn't test on anything else):

Yeah, not a very exciting or high quality one, eh? LOL I'll see if the camera on the phone can do better next time.
