Jungle Janie's Blog

Blog posts are below this welcome...

This Blog is best viewed from my JungleJanie.com site, rather than from blogspot directly 'cause you'll also have access to my pre-blogging journals dating back to 2002 when I started this journey, additional photos, my social networking site profile badges, and a whole lot more. There's an internal scroll bar on the right to navigate this Blog when on my site too.

Overt Fat-Free Me! :)

Okay, so I've been considering this off and on for a while now. I've decided to go overt-fat free as my "regular" status rather than a "sometimes" thing. I don't know if I'll have enough of a steady supply of things to be able to go overt fat-free forever, but I'm a-gonna' try.

I've noticed repeatedly that I feel better and seem to be doing better without the overt fats IF I get enough calories with fruit otherwise, that is. That has been a challenge with some of the banana famine situations and such, but I think I've got it figured out either way now. I may resort to partial dehydrating and/or freezing things and raisins at times if needed, but I think I'll do better with that than with the overt fats.

If I do have overt fats it will be in smaller amounts as well. No more eating too much overt fats then doing none for a while to balance it out. I'm gonna' keep the total fats to 10% or lower every day, not just as an average. Well, that's the plan at least. We'll see how that goes.

So far it's been going fairly well.

Today I ate:

watermelon
bananas
papayas

The day before I think it was:

watermelon
papayas
mango
something else I can't remember now, hehe

The day before that it was:

papayas
longan
mango
lettuce
tomatoes

I don't remember the day before that, but it was overt fat-free too, and a few days before that I believe as well. :) I think that may be the day I splurged on organic cherries (which don't grow here so they were $8/lb eek!) - tasty though. :) I've been having a lot of pineapple too, but not the past few days 'cause of all the watermelon and papaya and mango, hehe. Oh, and I made a cauliflower tabouli the other day too... Lately though, I've been more into just eating the food straight-up like it grows pretty much. Makes sorta' boring pics, hehe, which is part of the reason I haven't been taking them...

I'll try to start taking pics of it again for ya' anyway.

Aloha!

Food today

So I think I'll be able to at least record most of the food I eat, which is something a lot of people ask about...

Here's what I've eaten today:

  • small pineapple and 2 medium mango chopped and mixed together
  • 2 fuji apples and 9 medjool dates
  • green grapes
  • 5 large tangerines
  • cucumber juice, cucumber noodles, tomato-celery-red bell pepper sauce
Again, it's all locally grown except the apples, grapes, celery, red bell pepper & dates, which were all organic. Hehe, I suppose that's most of what I ate today. Yeah, I didn't have ripe bananas or papayas today, and didn't have enough ripe mango ... so ate a sort of hodge-podge of stuff.

back again! :)

Yeah, so my site's been sorta' neglected here for a while. Sorry. Poor cobbler's kids you are ...

I've been working on the FoodnSport site makeover recently and expect that I'll be able to start a makeover for this site too ... in a few months. I'm doing some preliminary things here and there as well, so there will be new life here in the not too distant future. :)

In the meantime, I'm going to try to blog here as I can.

As a start, here's what I ate yesterday and today:

Yesterday I had:
  • mangoes
  • bananas (lady finger & apple types)
  • jicima "rice" with tomato-celery-red bell pepper sauce
  • about a cup of kalamansi juice

All is locally grown, except the celery and bell pepper

Today I had:
  • one small-ish pineapple
  • papayas (didn't eat the two small ones in the back-left corner)
  • bananas (large lady finger, small-ish apple banana types)
  • 3 large tangerines
  • Forgot to take a pic of the rest: white mushrooms and tomatoes dipped into tahini-kalamansi dip

All is locally grown except the mushrooms and tahini. The papaya is from our farm.

Sorry no more time right now. I'll try to check in more often! :)
